The issues that come up while researching adoption in the Indian contexts and experiences of parents and children, which have been collated to facilitate an understanding of the phenomenon of adoption at various stages of the child s development. A distinguishing feature of this book is that it effectively combines both macro and micro issues with qualitative and quantitative methodologies to give a comprehensive construal of adoption. The life-cycle approach (which helps to map the continuities and transformations in the behaviour of adopted children), ethnographic studies of adoptive families and the author s personal story as an adoptive parent have been combined to provide the reader with an empathetic understanding of the adoptive parent and child. As a result, this book will be widely welcomed by parents of adopted children, policy-makers, counsellors, adoption agencies and those working on the rights of children. It will be of equal interest to students and scholars of child development, psychology and social work.

About the Author

Vinita Bhargava, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development and Childhood Studies at Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi. She is also Member, Adoption Recommendation Committee, Central Adoption Resource Agency, Government of NCT of Delhi. Together with undertaking research projects, she teaches courses in child development, research methods, early childhood care and education, and child welfare. Prior to joining Lady Irwin College in 1986, she worked with the Social Work and Research Centre, Tilonia (1979 82) and the Institute of Social Studies Trust (1982 84).

Dr. Bhargava has worked with various agencies in the field of adoption policy and practice in India. She has been the Chairperson of the Coordinating Voluntary Adoption Resource Agency (CVARA) since 1996. As a founder member of the Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA), an autonomous, nodal agency set up under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and the NOC committee member for screening applications for inter-country adoptions, she has contributed significantly to national policies on adoption. She has held executive positions in the All-India Women s Education Fund Association and the Indian Association for Family Therapy. She has written numerous papers and reports, as well as a manual for trainers in early childhood development for the Government of the Maldives.

Dr. Bhargava and her husband have two children, one of whom is adopted. They have founded a support group for adoptive parents called APNA (Alternative Parenting Network Association) in New Delhi.

Gr 10 Up—In Every Day (Knopf, 2012), Levithan presented the story of A, a teenager who wakes up daily in other teens' bodies. During one of those "hops," A meets Rhiannon, the beautiful but insecure girlfriend of a boy who treats her as nothing more than an object for his needs. This companion novel gives readers the story from Rhiannon's point of view and her growing affection for A (who she is most attracted to when inhabiting a male body, despite the character not identifying as male or female). Rhiannon's character development is solid: she goes from a needy doormat who thinks that because Justin does not hit her or cheat on her that he is a good boyfriend into a person who goes after what she wants. Things do not go smoothly along the way, as she finds ways to meet A, which destroys her relationship with Justin and impacts her reputation. Still, she and A fall for each other, and though the story ends with a resolution that A thinks is best for her, in this volume's conclusion we see that she may not accept that decision so readily. Although much of the novel is a repeat of the first work, readers who have not read Every Day will be lost. The action moves at a leisurely pace but not so much that the narrative becomes boring. Frequent episodes of underage drinking and sex makes this title more suitable for older teens. VERDICT Purchase where A's original story is popular.—Suanne B. The same story we already read but from Rhiannon's POV

I got a copy of this book through NetGalley to review. This was basically Every Day told from Rhainnon's point of view. There were parts of the story that I liked and sometimes it was interesting to hear from Rhiannon's POV. However, I kind of felt like we already had a good idea of how she felt in Every Day. This made the story a bit boring...you already know what's going to happen here.

Rhiannon has a very love/hate relationship with her boyfriend Justin, but then one day they take a day to go to the beach that is just perfect. It’s a day that makes Rhiannon think that Justin really does love her and this relationship will actually make it. However, the next day Justin doesn’t remember anything. Eventually Rhiannon finds out that the “Justin” she loved that day was not Justin at all but a person named A that lives in a different body every day. Will Rhiannon and A ever be able to make things work out?

I was really looking forward to the sequel to Every Day and this is not that book (I know Levithan discusses this in his opening to the book). At the end of this book we just get more mystery and loose ends just like at the end of Every Day (it’s basically the same story).

Maybe it's because the concept wasn't fresh and new and instead is a rehash of Every Day, but I thought the book was a bit boring. I also got a bit tired of Rhiannon's constant whininess and her constant efforts to talk herself into being in love with her boyfriend Justin. She is honestly kind of a pitiful girl, although she does grow a bit as the story continues.

Yep, Rhiannon was a huge sticking point for me. I didn’t mind her in Every Day, but in this book there is too much of her. She is whiny and needy and self-deprecating; I just really found myself resenting her for most of the story.

Overall it was okay but not nearly as good as the first book. There are some parts where it is interesting to see Rhiannon’s outlook on things, but it wasn’t interesting enough to be a full book. I still really hope that we get to see a sequel to Every Day sometime soon. There are a lot of mysteries left open at the end of Every Day that I would love to see resolved. Definitely read Every Day before reading this one, Every Day is a much better book.

I received a digital copy from Netgalley for an honest review.

I need to start off by saying that I freaking LOVED Every Day. Its one of my favorite books and it filled me with so much positive emotions about love. I could not stop recommending that book to everybody I knew. Therefore, I was immediately excited when I heard that David Levithan wrote a companion book. This time from the POV of Rhiannon.
David Levithan starts the book off with a forward about this book being a companion book and that his goal was that it could be read as a stand-alone. I feel it could be read as a stand-alone but it just would not be interesting. I highly recommend reading Every Day first or I feel Another Day would be boring. The first 20% is just getting to know Rhiannon and her meeting new people. Not exactly exciting but because I knew it was A I was intrigued. I wanted to know if she would figure out that something was off.
I did like reading her reaction to A and her frame of mind about the whole situation. I was more in tune to the story anytime A made an appearance.I wasn't that interested when A wasn't there. Hands down A's story is way more interesting than Rhiannon.
I did not like Justin at all. I know I wasn't a fan of his in Every Day but I really couldn't stand him in Another Day. I just thought he was a jerk and didn't understand how he even had friends. It also made me think differently about Rhiannon and how she could not see that he wasn't the right guy. Just way too much Justin in this book when I rather have scenes with A.
Overall I did like the story. I thought it was a nice edition but I would have rather have read a sequel Every Day.
I would recommend this book for fans of Every Day but please keep in mind that this story is different. It was just not as compelling

Good companion novel, but not the sequel you were hoping for

I’ll be honest – when I was wishing for the sequel, I thought we’ll get a little more beyond the story of Every Day, particularly what A really is and how that body jumping thing works, as well as how that person who could stay actually did it/figured it out. What instead I got was the same story, from Rhiannon’s POV. Granted, I love the fact that we are getting some other parts of the story, as well as some blanks filled in, and why she is such a doormat when it came to Justin, a whole novel for it? Probably would have been better as a novella. The ending was sad, but perhaps not as much as when reading Every Day (perhaps I was desenstized since I just read that yesterday), but more importantly – damn I need some answers!

Now that that proclamation is out of the way, let me start by saying I loved how Leviathan handled this story. Rhiannon’s character is so well-written – she is not just some kind girl who suddenly became the light of A’s life. She is a survivor, a girl who learns to love beyond what she has been thinking she was meant to love. She has faced being almost suicidal, and she stops relying on other people for her happiness. At first, she is all about Justin – so much so that her friend Rebecca is us – why are you staying with such a jerk? But then you realize she is stuck – and until nearly the end, she doesn’t realize that she doesn’t have to be in another relationship to get out of the one with Justin. She does cheat on him, and while most books would have it like ‘he deserved it, he was such a bad person’, this book actually brings a little complexity to his character too. Sure, he is not a good person, but not the spawn of Satan either – just broken and she was thinking she could fix him. He was a bad person, though, and emotionally abusive – which is sometimes worse than being physically abusive.

The thing about Rhiannon’s situation is – she is heterosexual, and all her life she just sees love in the form of the person. She keeps wishing it was A in Justin’s body forever, and finds it very difficult to look past the package. She feels uncomfortable expressing affection when A is female. But eventually, she says this one quote I really loved from the book –

Part of the problem is words. The fact that there are separate words for he and she, him and her. I’ve never thought about it before, how divisive this is. Like maybe if there was just one pronoun for all of us, we wouldn’t get so caught on that difference.

About the Author

Shannon Sovndal, MD, FACEP, is the owner and founder of Thrive Health and Fitness Medicine (Thrive HFM), an elite team of physicians, exercise physiologists, and athletes who provide clients with the highest level of personalized health care, life management, and fitness training. He is the director of trauma special operations development at

Denver Health Medical Center and medical director at North Colorado Med Evac. He is a board-certified emergency medicine physician at Boulder Community Hospital.

From 2007 to 2013, Sovndal was a team physician for the Garmin-Slipstream professional cycling team. He worked as a physician at the General Clinical Research Center at the University of Colorado from 2004 to 2012. Before becoming a physician, Sovndal raced road bikes in the United States, winning the California/Nevada District Championship and many other road races and criteriums.

Sovndal is the author of Fitness Cycling (Human Kinetics, 2013). He has written numerous sport-related articles and lectured on exercise-related topics. He attended medical school at Columbia University in New York, completed his residency at Stanford University in California and now lives in Boulder, Colorado.

I would read and believe what Dr. Sovndal writes, as he is a brilliant scholar. He knows both the clinical and didactic sides of cycling performance and endurance. He's done it all from excelling at cycling himself to being on the "front line" in the world of professional cycling, with all the credentials that make him the most credible source on this subject. You will be so enriched with the material in this comprehensive book.

Sovndal has once again created a book that every cyclist can glean some knowledge, skill and fitness from. I will especially benefit from his technique's for creating and maintaining a positive plan in order to obtain my personal goals as a cyclist. Along with creating your training plans this book will help demystify nutrition and hydration as it pertains to training, racing etc. so you can avoid the nasty bonks, cramps and fatigue that goes along with improper nutrition/hydration planning. It doesn't matter if you're planning to ride your first century, your thousandth crit or just want to get into better cycling shape this book has something for you!

I liked the book very much because I train alone. I am from India & we do not have the concept of trainer here. So you have to do every thing on your own. This book explains every thing you need to know about biking.
