Excellent for Middle School Students

The reading level is appropriate for middle school students and includes all of the most important content for NC standards for both the 6th grade and 7th grade (Ancient to Renaissance and Renaissance to the present). There's an additional advantage in that the CD's have the book on them and offer a "read aloud" option for struggling readers. The disk also offers some activities but they did seem a bit too easy to me and don't include the grueling (too high for the age?) NC MSL type questions. There are some supplementary materials in the Teacher's Guide that are useful, however, the main advantage is having reading materials that are at grade level for challenging topics. For example, finding readings on the Revolutions of 1848 or German and Italian Unification at the 7th grade level on the web-Good luck!!!!!
